Prevention of Peri Implant Diseases: From Implant Placement to Long Term Maintenance
Speaker(s): Miguel Nobre (Portugal) & Patricia Solano (Spain)
Peri‑implant diseases remain one of the leading causes of implant failure worldwide. This hands‑on workshop provides an overview of peri‑implant diseases with a focus on prevention strategies, from the immediate post‑surgical period to long‑term maintenance. Key steps will be reviewed, including the analysis of risk factors, diagnosis, oral hygiene protocols, and supportive peri‑implant care, in accordance with the latest clinical practice guidelines. Hands‑on exercises using training models will help clinicians acquire practical skills applicable to their daily practice, including oral hygiene instruction, diagnostic procedures, non‑surgical therapy protocols, and maintenance of implant‑supported restorations.

From Extraction to Immediate strategies: Predictable Implant Placement in the Posterior and Esthetic Zone
Speaker(s): France Lambert (Belgium)
Immediate implant placement reduces treatment time and helps preserve tissue architecture, but predictable outcomes depend on careful case selection, precise surgical technique, and a solid understanding of biological principles.
This 2.5-hour workshop includes a 45-minute evidence-based lecture and a structured hands-on session. The lecture covers post-extraction healing, dimensional changes, 3D implant positioning, risk assessment, and key surgical concepts such as jumping gap management, socket grafting, and soft tissue augmentation.
In the hands-on session, participants will perform fully guided immediate implant placement in posterior and anterior cases. In the posterior region, this includes socket grafting and placement of a sealing socket abutment. In the anterior esthetic zone, it includes socket grafting, a connective tissue graft, and immediate loading with a prefabricated provisional crown.
The focus is on practical, evidence-based protocols that can be directly applied in daily practice to improve predictability in immediate implant cases.

Paradigm Shift: Non-Surgical Therapy for Periodontal and Peri-Implant Bone Defects?
Speaker(s): Stefan Fickl (Germany) & Giovanni Salvi (Switzerland)
Deep periodontal defects and peri-implant defects represent a major clinical challenge as they cannot be predictably treated by conventional non-surgical approaches and thus require surgical interventions. This session presents biologically guided, non-surgical (and surgical) therapies aiming to stimulate regeneration and defect resolution. The scientific data is presented and backed up with numerous clinical examples to illustrate the potential of these minimally invasive concepts for both periodontal and peri-implant infections.
